Remember those resolutions we just recently talked about? Well, how do you make your resolutions (dreams, goals, wishes), your reality?
There are so many tools out there. Journals (as we mentioned, we like to journal feelings, progress and details of our resolutions). Apps. Courses. Books. Websites. You name it, there is a place for you to get lost and document your resolutions, track your progress and ultimately determine if you succeed in the end.
Use what works for you. That’s the first rule of thumb. Use the tool that inspires your success. That helps you stay on track. That promotes steadfastly committing to your resolutions (goals) and ensuring that your goals are met.
All that included, we think there should be some beauty in goal setting and striving. That beauty comes in the form of Vision Boards. Vision Boards are a way to put all that has been written, tracked and calendared into one visual location. A location where you, the viewer see it regularly. A location that inspires and motivates work and dedication to complete the goals visually portrayed.
Have you ever created a vision board? If so, you know the joy that comes from seeing your goals (and dare I say dreams) in beautiful pictures. If not, we’re here to help. So, let’s get visioning!
- Determine your goals & dreams
Visions boards are meant to visually depict that which you are striving for. Want to own a beach house? Print your favorite beach house photo. Want to pay off debt? Print a crushed piggy bank. Create graphs depicting the amount of debt you want to rid yourself of. Want to lose weight? Print a scale and add the number with an arrow traveling down. Bottom line, get real with yourself and add specific data points to the visual picture.
- Collect supplies
Images (from magazines, photos, print outs, etc)
Glitter & added joy (anything that will draw your eye to your vision board regularly and inspire you to continue to pursue your goals.
- Get to work
Segment your board into four categories – goals for 2019, dreams for 2019, future goals (goals that will take more than this year to accomplish), future dreams (dreams that will take more than this year to accomplish). Cut out and paste images, find quotes, add specifics and details, create beauty. This part is all about your creating a space where your goals and dreams live and thrive. Make it your kind of beautiful. It can be a simple list, only pictures, words and pictures, a crazy layered collage… Create what inspires and motivates you.
- Hang that baby
Hang the beauty you just created in a space and place where you will review it regularly and find inspiration. Whether it’s an 8 1/2 x 11 or a giant poster, make it visible! Now, go accomplish those goals and dreams.
A vision board alone will not lead to goals accomplished and dreams chased. Putting energy daily to those goals and dream, adjusting approaches, challenging the norm, staying on course; that’s what will make you a success.
Make your goals and dreams your reality any and every way you can. Chase your goals without relent and chase your dreams with wonder.
